Mary-Emma and I were joined by Fiona, Fionnuala and Matthew before
Easter, and on Good Friday we left our troubles behind at last and
enjoyed a fair wind and sunshine for the trip back to Belle Isle
for Easter. There John had arrived on the ferry shortly before us;
it took us a moment to recognise the beardy fellow who came and
sat quietly on the quay as we were tying up.
Next day leaving the town quickly by a lane fragrant
with Spring flowers we walked to the west coast, by woods and fields
and bourgs somewhat reminiscent of Irish town-lands.
A bus turned up obligingly as we headed inland again at Les Aiguilles
returning to Bangor, where the Irish monks founded their monastery
when they brought the Gospel to this island long ago.
